White House Now Using Open Source Content Management

Open Source technologies continue to gain ground as a viable web content management alternative, made evident by high profile companies in the private sector who have recently adopted Open Source technologies including Sony Music and FedEx. Recently, the White House announced that www.whitehouse.gov is now running the popular open-source Web publishing system Drupal.

But many Content Management Systems are expensive and proprietary (meaning the company who provides it for you is the only one who can truly support it). In some instances a proprietary CMS is the way to go, but many times an Open Source CMS will more than fit your needs.
